ChatGPT Integration with InsideSpin

As a validation of AI-augmented article writing, InsideSpin has integrated ChatGPT to help flesh out unfinished articles at the moment they are requested. If you have been a past InsideSpin user, you may have noticed not all articles are fully fleshed out. While every article has a summary, only about half are fleshed out. Decisions about what to finish has been based on user interest over the years. With this POC, ChatGPT will use the InsideSpin article summary as the basis of the prompt, and return an expanded article adding insight from its underlying model. The instances are being stored for later analysis to choose one that best represents the intent of InsideSpin which the author can work with to finalize. This is a trial of an AI-augmented approach. Email founder@insidespin.com to share your views on this or ask questions about the implementation.

Consulting Services

An opportunity for additional revenues -- not really. An opportunity to generate more product sales, for sure. Unless you are in the services business, consulting around your product family tends to be a necessary evil to secure key customers, especially when just starting out. Over time you should see an ecosystem of service partners develop that are more than happy to provide the consulting services for your product family -- let it happen. If it does not happen, you should question the size of your market.

The Reality of Consulting Services

Few product companies successfully build large and meaningful service practices to complement their offerings. While it is indeed possible that your product may require specialized knowledge or expertise that only you can provide, it is crucial to understand that a consulting service is fundamentally a services business. As such, it should generate revenue if you decide to engage in this area. The mindset that consulting services can be offered for free is a misconception that can lead to significant financial strain.

Understanding Your Market

Before diving into consulting services, it is imperative to analyze your target market. Understanding the size and needs of your market will help gauge whether there is sufficient demand for consulting alongside your product. If customers are not willing to pay for consulting services, you may need to reevaluate your product offering or consider alternative revenue streams.

Establishing a Consulting Framework

To effectively offer consulting services, establishing a structured framework is essential. This framework should include the following key elements:

Building Relationships with Service Partners

As you grow your product business, it is likely that an ecosystem of service partners will emerge. These partners can play a pivotal role in providing consulting services, allowing you to focus on your core product offerings. Building strong relationships with these partners is essential. Consider the following strategies:

Measuring Success

Once your consulting services are in place, measuring success becomes crucial. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as:

Challenges in Consulting Services

While consulting services can offer significant benefits, they are not without challenges. Some common issues include:

Conclusion

In summary, consulting services can be a valuable addition to your technology business, but they require careful planning and execution. By understanding your market, establishing a solid framework, building relationships with service partners, and measuring success, you can create a consulting practice that enhances your product offerings. While it may not be a lucrative revenue stream in the beginning, over time, a well-managed consulting service can lead to increased customer loyalty and higher product sales.
