ChatGPT Integration with InsideSpin

As a validation of AI-augmented article writing, InsideSpin has integrated ChatGPT to help flesh out unfinished articles at the moment they are requested. If you have been a past InsideSpin user, you may have noticed not all articles are fully fleshed out. While every article has a summary, only about half are fleshed out. Decisions about what to finish has been based on user interest over the years. With this POC, ChatGPT will use the InsideSpin article summary as the basis of the prompt, and return an expanded article adding insight from its underlying model. The instances are being stored for later analysis to choose one that best represents the intent of InsideSpin which the author can work with to finalize. This is a trial of an AI-augmented approach. AI for Product Teams

Over the last 30 years, the number of software developers has surged dramatically to meet professional demands. Starting with fewer than a million coders in the early 1990s in the United States, it is projected that by 2025, there will be over 30 million professional software engineers worldwide. This figure excludes millions of individuals who utilize web development tools such as WordPress, HubSpot, Spotify, GoDaddy, and AWS, generating necessary code templates without formal coding training.

The Rise of AI in Coding

AI coding tools, like GitHub's CoPilot, exemplify how AI excels in code generation. These tools operate as semantic language engines, leveraging the intrinsic logic of programming languages. While most programming languages are designed to be semantically unambiguous for effective machine execution, the ability of AI to understand and generate complex human language is not a primary requirement. However, these code-generating tools are not immune to the "garbage-in/garbage-out" principle, a challenge shared with AI chat tools like ChatGPT. This underscores the necessity for AI-augmented skills among human operators to extract value and maintain job security.

The Role of Product Managers in an AI-Driven Environment

For Product Managers, the essence of the role lies in synthesizing diverse streams of requirements into outputs that engineering teams can use to construct economically viable products for market launch. The consistency and clarity of the outputs produced by product teams directly influence the ability of developers and sales teams to address identified needs. While there is a risk of homogenization in thought processes due to AI reliance—similar to the past effects of spreadsheet usage in finance—the benefits of alignment, consistency, and comprehensive analysis derived from generated artifacts cannot be overlooked.
